Digital nomadism has taken off as a lifestyle over the last couple of years, and the list of countries offering visas is only getting longer.
But with there being so many places to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming. Some visas require applicants to work for a particular industry or earn a certain amount, which can help rule out unsuitable destinations for you.
And to make the best options even clearer, VisaGuide.World has created an index to assess six integral categories. Countries with digital nomad visas were ranked according to internet speed (essential for remote working), taxation and tax-free policy, income amount, the cost of living, popularity with tourists and healthcare.
While a different ranking named Portugal this year as the best country for nomads, Spain ranks at number one according to this index, with a score of 4.5. Spain scored especially high in the healthcare category, however it does impose a 15 percent tax on remote workers after six months.
Argentina on the other hand, which came in second place with a score of 3.78, has no nomad tax – nor do any of the other top 10 entries, other than Portugal.
Romania came in third place, only slightly behind Argentina with a score of 3.74, and it scored particularly well in the internet speed category.
