A great brunch isn’t just about the food and drink. Sure, tasty coffees, fluffy pancakes, spicy Bloody Marys and nutty granola bowls are all nice, but the best brunches offer that bit more. A grandiose setting. Spectacular scenery. Peerlessly chilled ambiance. That sort of stuff.
And it’s with that in mind that travel reviews site TripSavvy compiled the 2022 edition of its Editors’ Choice Awards. Having taken into account 60,000 businesses around the world and rated them based on data, user reviews and editorial judgement, the site came up with its picks for the world’s best brunches right now.
According to TripSavvy’s ranking, there are six brunch places around the world that are most worthy of note. The highest rated was La Sombra del Sabina in Tepoztlán, Mexico, which got a full five stars. A literary café offering both books and scrummy grub, La Sombra has a stunning garden and views out over the nearby mountains and Tepozteco pyramid.
The other five brunch spots were all given a still-impressive rating of 4.5 stars. B&B Sei Stelle in Sulmona, Italy, boasts local meats and cheeses and has great terrace views out over the town, while Shirley Heights Lookout Restaurant and Bar in Antigua’s English Harbour Town combines Caribbean bliss with a top-drawer buffet.
The final three were all in the US of A: Cranky Al’s in Wisconsin is a local favourite for take-out doughnuts, Jefferson Hotel in Richmond is a hotel with boatloads of luxury and history and TibbittsFernHill is an exceptionally popular restaurant in Tacoma that partners with local farmers to keep their ingredients fresh and seasonal.
Not a bad spread, eh? Find out more about TripSavvy’s brunch choices here. If you're still hungry for more of the world's best foodie spots, activate your second stomach and check out the site’s top places in the world for desserts.
