If you’re ready to turn a new page in your life and start afresh somewhere quaint and sunny, then we have good news. The Sicilian village of Petralia Soprana has opened its doors to new residents – and it’s even offering cash incentives.
The town is located southeast of Palermo and is famous for its medieval stone buildings, peaceful streets and local festivals that see the community come together. If you’re looking for the best of Italy: delicious local produce, breathtaking views, and la dolce vita – you may well find it here.
The town council of Petralia Soprana, led by mayor Pietro Macaluso, has launched the cash incentive program in hopes of fighting the depopulation that has taken hold of Petralia Soprana. The village currently has just under 3,000 residents and over 50 uninhabited houses.
The village’s new inhabitants will be offered €5,000 against the expenses of buying and renovating one of the uninhabited homes in the area.
Those who are interested are encouraged to contact the town council before May 10. So make haste and head over to the official webpage to express your interest.
