The coffee gods are looking out for us today. In honor of National Coffee Day and in celebration of its 50th anniversary, Starbucks locations across the US and Canada are pouring free cups of coffee on Wednesday, September 29.

Before you run out the door, there are a few things you should know about this freebie. First, and perhaps most importantly, you'll need to bring your own cup – and it should be clean, empty and reusable (up to 20 ounces). It's also worth noting that the deal is only good on Pike Place roast brewed coffee, so don't expect to waltz in and get a gratis PSL.

Fun fact: Pike Place was first introduced back in 2008 and was crafted using input from almost 1,000 customers over 1,500 hours. No wonder it's a classic.

The party doesn't stop there. Right now, select stores in Asia-Pacific markets are dishing out free limited-edition reusable cups with the purchase of a beverage. And customers in Japan will enjoy a discount of 110 yen when they bring in a reusable cup on Friday, October 1. Also on Friday, stores in Europe and the Middle East will offer free pours of Autumn Blend to customers who bring in a reusable cup.

Need a refill? Dunkin' is pouring free cups of joe today, too, in honor of National Coffee Day.
