Here's another reason to carry your vaccine card with you at all times: it could help you score a delicious freebie at lunch. Starting today – Friday, May 21 – all Shake Shack locations in the US are dishing out gratis crinkle-cut fries to customers who show proof of vaccination. The offer's good through Saturday, June 12, and diners have to purchase a burger or chicken sandwich to take advantage of the post-poke deal.
To cash in, you must have your vaccine card (stickers won't do) proving that you've had at least one of two shots of Pfizer or Moderna or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson. The Shack isn't keeping tabs on who's redeemed the deal, but the offer is technically only good for one round of free fries – though, really, how would they know if you double-dipped? One last thing: the deal cannot be redeemed at Shake Shack locations in airports or stadiums, so plan your meal accordingly.
Shake Shack is just the latest big-name chain to join the growing list of brands that are offering vaccine freebies to residents of the US, including Krispy Kreme, Budweiser, Sam Adams and OfficeMax. It's all part of a push to incentivize Americans to get vaccinated while drumming up extra business as the world reopens. (Hey, no shame in that game.)
Once you've devoured a free doughnut (or five), gulped an on-the-house beer and downed a complimentary probiotic shot, be sure to treat yourself to an order of crispy, crunchy fries at Shake Shack. Don't forget the ketchup!
