We’ll never know what kind of movies Queen Elizabeth turned to in her down moments between royal engagements, but it’s unlikely to have been Fast Five and Double Impact. But it turns out that the stars of those movies – and a fair few other Hollywood types – carried a special place in their hearts for the late monarch.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Russell Crowe and Reese Witherspoon are among those from the acting fraternity who have taken to Twitter and offer their respect for the Queen.
Johnson posted a heartfelt video message from the gym (obvs), sharing his grief for the loss of his dad in 2020 and offering the people of Britain the virtual equivalent of a sweaty Rock hug.
Fellow action star Jean-Claude Van Damme tweeted: ‘May the Angelic Soul of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom rest in peace.’
Actress and producer Reese Witherspoon posted a simple ‘RIP’ and a portrait of Queen Elizabeth in her younger years, while Richard E Grant shared a photo of his meeting with the monarch at a Royal Academy of Arts reception in 2016.
Check out Hollywood’s fast-growing virtual condolence board below. Nothing as yet from her fellow monarch, Queen Latifah.

What an extraordinary act of will the Queen’s life was. A total commitment to decency, duty and service to her people, reassuring us in dark times that”this too shall pass”, soothing us with her words. Selfless and wise. Wondrous woman. God speed Your Majesty.
