The premium booze world is big business for A-listers these days. For Dwayne Johnson, whose new tequila brand, Teremana, has just broken sales records in its first year, it seems to have come as naturally as wrestling, film superstardom and motivational tweets extolling us to become better, more toned versions of ourselves. One day he will be President and it will become mandatory to go the gym. Enjoy those fries in the meantime.
Until that day comes, he will have to satisfy himself with conquering the tequila business. Teremana launched in March 2020, promising a ‘tequila of the people’, and it’s safe to say the people have embraced it.
The number of nine-litre cases sold has just passed the 600,000 mark, which Johnson says is a record for first year sales.
‘For context, George Clooney sold his Casamigos tequila brand to Diageo for $1 billion dollars and they were selling approximately 170,000 cases,’ he tells CNN.
Of course, Johnson and Clooney aren’t the only A-listers to move into the liquor trade. Ryan Reynolds, Johnson’s Red Notice co-star, has his successful Aviator Gin, Justin Timberlake is behind 901 Silver Tequila, and Kate Hudson launched King St. Vodka.
In Johnson’s tequila pipeline is a worldwide expansion in a bid to take Teremana global. Today Mexico and America; tomorrow the world. And this being The Rock, we do literally mean tomorrow.
And just because it’s the new year, here’s the man himself with a few motivational pearls to help you put your boot to 2022’s ass.

On screen this year, you can catch The Rock in DC superhero flick Black Adam and as the voice of a super-dog in DC League of Super Pets. No rest for the rippled.
