If you’re a Star Wars stan, it can be pretty hard work waiting for a new instalment. But super-fans can now fill the movie-shaped void with a trip to a brand-new ‘immersive hotel experience’ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.

Trips start with check-in at the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal and you’re then whisked through ‘hyperspace’ in a pod that really does look like something from the films. You’ll then have made it to the starcruiser itself, and the ‘passenger cabins’ really do look the kitschy part.

But it’s not a case of dumping your bags up there and getting on with you standard Disney day out. Next up, you’ll get to battle it out in something described as a ‘Star Wars story’. That’ll involve lightsaber challenges, starcruiser engineering lessons and even a trip to Batuu. Feeling peckish? The hotel of course has a menu packed with intergalactic-themed treats.

Perhaps predictably, the experience doesn’t come cheap: prices start at $3,000 (£2,230) per night for a family of four. But to be fair to the folk at Disney, that’ll includes a stay in the starcruiser, all food and parking, plus access to the Hollywood Studios park. Which feels almost like reasonable value to us. But either way, if you are really into your lightsabering? It might well be the price to pay for the trip of a lifetime.
