As perhaps the the world’s most in-demand anonymous artist, Banksy should be pretty used to lockdown life. But WFH presents an all-new set of challenges for anyone, let alone a prolific street artist. And so, when he posted five images of his latest rat-themed artwork on Instagram yesterday, naturally he captioned it: ‘My wife hates it when I work from home.’

Rats have long played a part in the Bristol-based artist’s street works, and his latest piece shows them infesting what appears to be his bathroom (though we’d wager it’s likely to be a mock-up – if you were a multi-millionaire artist, wouldn’t you have a snazzier toothbrush?).

One rat dangles from the light cord, another balances perilously on the toilet paper. There’s one relieving itself on his toilet seat. Peep in the mirror, and yet another seems to be tallying the lockdown days in red lipstick on the wall.

It’s an image of chaos – just like the state of the world, right? Looks like ol’ Banksy is, as ever, right on the money.
