While you’ve almost definitely heard of Pablo Picasso – world-renowned Spanish painter and sculptor, known as the father of cubism – you might not know that he was also a skilled print-maker.

In the 1930s, Picasso was commissioned by French art dealer to produce a series of prints known as the Vollard Suite. Picasso created 100 etchings overall, today considered one of the most significant works of modern printmaking – and now, after more than 10 years, the series will be on display in Madrid.

The unique collection will be open to visitors from February 13 - July 20 at the Museo ICO and – get this – it’s for free

Divided into various sections, the exhibition explores Picasso’s progression as an artist through his various obsessions: The Sculptor’s Studio, The Battle of Love, The Minotaur, and Portraits of Ambroise Vollard.

And it isn’t all about Picasso. Included will be a curated selection of prints by other major Spanish artists from the latter half of the 20th century, such as Juan Genovés, Eduardo Arroyo, Manolo Valdés, Miguel Ángel Campano, and Darío Villalba.

If you’re thinking this sounds pretty mega, you’d be right. This is one of the world’s most exclusive collections of old Pablo’s work, and you can catch it from next week until July 20 without spending a penny.
