Whether your definition of ‘cool’ encompasses plenty of gritty late-night spots or a fantastic offering of cultural spaces like galleries and museums, both Berlin and Amsterdam for sure know what they’re doing.

That’s why we’re so excited about this new, almost unbelievably cheap train ticket which will literally get you from A(msterdam) to B(erlin).

Dutch low-cost rail operator GoVolta has announced it plans a brand-new service between the two capitals by September this year, with at least 110 tickets per train earmarked to cost just €10 (or £8).

If you’re in a rush, this one might not be for you – journey time on this route will be around eight hours, whereas other operators such as Deutsche Bahn will get you there in six.

However, it’s certainly something for budget travellers to be aware of. For some context, depending on your departure time, ticket class, operator, and how far in advance you book, prices to get between these two cities by train can land anywhere between €37.90 to €257 (that’s around £31 to £213), according to Metro

Oh, and there are plans to expand service to cities such as Copenhagen, Paris and Basel. Keep an eye on this page for updates on those services, as well as exactly when tickets will go on sale for Amsterdam to Berlin.
