Though city kids spend far more time looking up at glowing skyscrapers than celestial bodies, clear Tuesday evenings at the High Line might give them a chance to wish upon a shooting star. Every week April through October 31, 2017, the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York brings high-powered telescopes and a wealth of knowledge to the elevated park. More events are added throughout the season, so check the High Line's event lineups often. Stargazing begins at dusk.
Whether your sprout aspires to be the world's next iconic astronaut or is simply fascinated with celestial happenings, these wonderful stargazing events in NYC are simply too cool to pass up! In most cases, families are welcome to bring telescopes and other equipment to supplement what's provided by the event host, but rest assured that even without your own professional gear you'll get to see some really cool stuff.
Also, if you're invested in getting away from all of the city's light pollution and seeing the best possible views of the night sky, you'll definitely want to take an aventure to one of our favorite family campgrounds for some stargazing adventures of your own. Can't beat the views there!
