Dialled In is just one of many exciting South Asian collectives taking over the decks across the UK right now. Alongside the likes of Daytimers and Pxssy Palace, Dialled In has been platforming South Asian sounds since it started in 2021. Since then the crew has thrown their own festivals, curated a stage at Printworks, and hosted Boiler Room’s first-ever broadcast from Pakistan. Dialled In DJs to look out for include Nabihah Iqbal’s global grooves and Ahadadream’s bass-heavy club belters.

Queer Latinx party starters 2CPERREA are all about creating sexy, high-energy nights. Expect a 2CPERREA crowd to be seriously stylish, scantily clad – think bikini tops, wrap-around sunglasses and bedazzled denim caps – and quite likely twerking behind the decks. The London-based collective, created by Chilean and Venezuelan DJ pals Josefa and DJ Tedesco, first started up as a space for London’s queer Latinx community to dance to experimental Latin music in a safe, welcoming environment. Now they throw quarterly events and host stages at dance music festivals. Fun is at their core, come prepared to sweat.

Colombian record label TraTraTrax blasted its way into the collective consciousness of electronic music heads in 2022 after releasing Latin house banger ‘Xtasis’, by the label’s founder Nick Léon. Since then the label and its crew of party starters have travelled the globe blasting out everything from house and techno to reggaeton and guaracha, and all sorts in between. Retrogroove likes to balance the party with the wholesome, as the Beirut-based collective formed in 2017 with the goal of dancing all night, and creating art all day. The gang of friends and artists has hosted knees-ups in Lebanon, Jordan, UAE, Egypt, and France, throwing festival-style parties with positivity at their core. So far, their events have been mostly list-only or word of mouth, but they are expanding into festivals. This summer, Retrogroove will team up with Egyptian events company Nacelle for a stage takeover at Aegis in Lebanon.

Rotterdam-based duo Animistic Beliefs are fast becoming one of the must-see acts on the European festival circuit. Not only does the group, made up of Linh Luu and Marvin Lalihatu, shell out an eclectic mix of global club music, they also incorporate live performances with instruments. For both of them, their Southeast Asian heritage is an intrinsic part of their performance, and they often use traditional Vietnamese and Moluccan instruments like gongs and tifa drums. An excellent balance of live music and DJing, these two really know how to put on a show – and that’s without mentioning their always fabulous and out-there ‘fits. This summer they are hosting a stage at Dekmantel and playing a bunch of other European festies, including Houghton and Flow.
