On June 22 1971 – exactly 44 years ago this month and shortly before the release of their classic album ‘Sticky Fingers’ – The Rolling Stones played the Marquee Club in Soho. Their debauched, riotous performance was captured on film by young photographer Alec Byrne, who had been shooting the London rock ’n’ roll scene since his teens.
The pictures have been in Byrne’s archive ever since, but now – coinciding with the Stones’ ‘Sticky Fingers’ anniversary tour and the release of the Marquee show on DVD – they’re being compiled into a book by über EDITIONS and an exhibition at The Perfect Exposure Gallery in Los Angeles.
