This fly-on-the-wall doc about underage prostitution and the efforts of NYC outreach worker Rachel Lloyd to help girls leave the life is flawed but profoundly disturbing. The format isolates the young subjects—all seduced or forced into hooking in their early teens—from the social context that made them vulnerable to the blandishments of pimps, but their stories are heartbreaking nonetheless. The most shocking material is home video shot by smirking pimps Anthony and Chris Griffith as they go about the day-to-day business of recruiting and selling girls: That they thought they could sell their exploits as reality TV is more horrifying than any hidden-camera footage of girls trolling the nighttime streets.
