Struggling artist and single dad Paul (Bean) is trying to come to terms with the death of his wife and do the right thing by his adopted son, eight-year-old Thomas, who doesn't make friends easily and is failing at school. Thomas is also having vivid dreams about his 'imaginary' friend Tom - a boy, around his age, who's in danger, having witnessed a child-napping at the Dotheboys-style home where he lives. Dickensian caricatures Bancroft and sidekick Finch are determined to silence him. Will Thomas be able to save him? While Johnson, playing Tom and Thomas, does a creditable job, Dutch writer/director Lammers' schmaltz fest is unlikely to appeal to any but the youngest and most naive of audiences.
