A patchy one-man-band attempt by rock'n'crooner Harry Nilsson at a children's animated musical fantasy, about a father who tears his son away from watching TV by reading a story about the Pointed Village, where everything has a point until the birth of a round-headed boy... Made originally for TV, the animation is excellent, and many of the images are given a shot in the arm by a tailor-made score ('the pointless forest' especially), but the whole thing is weighed down by the doughy morality (dare one say 'point'?). Adults who ferret out readings in Puffins will love it; children will probably be reasonably entertained.
