Even if you love your job, going to work can sometimes seem like a slow death. For the employees in this nightmarish American horror-comedy, that feeling becomes a reality when the automatic exit doors of their high-tech office tower lock shut and intercom announcements declare layoffs of the cruellest kind. They have to start killing each other, or the bombs implanted in their necks will do it for them.
Though heavily indebted to satires like ‘Battle Royale’, the brutal screenplay (by ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ writer James Gunn) has some decent zingers, and you brace for a gory red explosion whenever a character wanders in front of a white wall. It’s all as deep as a paper cut but thrilling.
