The film catches Neil Young and backing band Crazy Horse in fine form during the 1979 'Live Rust' tour, and showcases both sides of Young's music, lyrical and abrasive, very satisfyingly indeed for fans. It would be pointless to pretend it's of any interest to the unconverted, despite Young's attempt to inject some cinematic interest with stage props dwarfing the musicians and standing as part of Young's statement about his 'small' place in rock history. But those who consider that his place in the rock pantheon is well deserved will reject the false modesty on display here and simply enjoy.
