The history of the vibrator. There, we said it. That’s the topic of this doc. Hold your giggles. Well, in keeping with the film’s jaunty approach, have your giggles ready for occasional punctuation. Drawing heavily on a well-regarded academic volume by Rachel P. Maines (who appears here along with other scholars, activists, and for the giggles, performance artist Reno), the filmmakers make a persuasive case for the vibrator as agent of feminist empowerment. Our only complaint is that, like many orgasms, this flick is over too soon.
