This could be an advert for the French branch of Fathers 4 Justice – les pėres pour justice, perhaps? Father Paul (Benoît Magimel) is left to raise his two kids alone after his wife Sarah (Audrey Tatou) disappears after a row. Her disappearance quickly comes to dominate the film, as a detective begins to investigate. Questions arise about Paul’s lifestyle, which changes as he moves to coastal St Malo. Here he meets a usual cast of quirky characters including another wronged father (Ramzy Bedia) and the tutees of the driving school where he takes a job. Never quite reaching a satisfactory climax, ‘Headwinds’ is an interesting examination of what it means to ‘move on’ in a difficult situation.
