Wesley Deeds (Perry) is so square he calls 2Pac "two pee ay cee." The arc of his life has been set from birth: Take over dad's computer software company; marry gorgeous rich girl Natalie (Union); keep Mama Deeds (Rashad, perfecting her cobra-about-to-strike squint) happy above all else. But then down-and-out cleaning lady Lindsey (Newton) traipses into his life---they meet semi-cute after she steals his parking space---and Wesley starts to feel the "is that all there is?" itch. Much cut-rate melodrama ensues, none of it particularly painful to watch, until a ridiculously redemptive finale negates almost all of the preceding dramatic tension and resurrects a cloying Richard Marx chestnut to boot.
