Time Out says

If – and it’s a big if – you loved ‘Date Movie’ and ‘Meet the Spartans’, here’s more of the same. With the recent rash of urban dance films like ‘Step Up’, the genre is ripe for mocking. But this steers clear of smart observational comedy and goes for gross-out every time.

Megan is a white dancer who learns street moves from African-American Thomas. Dance battles and romance follow, but this is really just a series of spoof sketches. If it had stuck to a ‘Save the Last Dance’ template, it might have had a chance, but it throws in too many random references: ‘Crash’, ‘Ray’, ‘Twilight’, ‘Juno’…

There’s a glimpse of socially aware humour in its take on street culture (Thomas pretends he’s giving Megan directions when black girls walk past). But most of the comedy involves exaggerated pratfalls and puerile sex gags. That there’s a teacher called Ms Cameltoe says it all.
