Anyone amazed by the audacity of the McCain campaign’s recent flagrant untruths about Obama has clearly forgotten the lessons taught to us by GOP hatchet man and blues enthusiast Lee Atwater. This timely doc follows the slow-talking progenitor of Rovian politics as he sleazes his way up the political ladder and is later struck down by a malignant brain tumor. Boogie Man could have easily descended into a partisan polemic (by either side), but it pulls off the neat trick of presenting Atwater as both a sympathetic figure and the Antichrist.
