An Israeli rom-com that’s refreshingly free of political gravitas, Antarctica navigates the cold world of meaningless gay sex. After opening with a split-screen montage of frisky one-night stands, the story fast-forwards three years, and we follow the guys as they begin to settle down. The token lesbian couple, naturally, have already rented a U-Haul and are now listening to folksy guitar music instead of having sex. Ignore the subplot involving alien abduction (seriously) and revel in Antarctica’s queer nation: Israel’s answer to Divine (Huberman) plays Jewish mother to two homo offspring and just wants them to get gay-married and give her some grandchildren already.
