Hunter's Blood

A bunch of Real Men drive into the deep woods of Arkansas (apparently located in Ventura, California) to shoot something. There, to nobody's surprise but their own, they encounter poachers who are even Realer Men and who therefore shoot at everybody. The movie was optimistically promoted with the tag 'After Deliverance comes Hunter's Blood'. There's also a rerun of John Cazale's 'clumsy hunter' scene from The Deer Hunter and the night-camp ambush from The Searchers. Clu Gulager performs some Last of the Mohicans-style tracking and hand signals, but all that distinguishes hunter from poacher is neat hair and better dental work. Once the chase is on nothing much happens beyond miscellaneous running about and shooting.
