Time Out says

Anna's boyfriend Alex (Freed) is a supercilious nerd who fits in his fucking around his work and the evening news. When Anna (Charbonneau) starts receiving velvet-voiced phone calls exhorting her to dress sexily and meet in a downtown New York bar, she is intrigued and complies, believing the caller to be Alex. There follows a wonderfully uncomfortable scene when she waits in a sleazy drinking hole surrounded by looming off-cue characters, but Alex doesn't show. In the loo, she earwigs a brutal killing, thus becoming a risk to an organised crime syndicate. Meanwhile the mysterious calls continue, and she finds herself drawn to someone who, besides alerting her to the erotic potential of oranges, expresses concern for her safety... While Mitchell's directing debut is not slick, it is highly enjoyable, and should do for Jaffa what Last Tango did for butter.
