What are you doing?
‘Just opened the tour of the new work “Sun” at the Melbourne Festival. It got a much stronger response from the audience than I expected: a mix of a festive atmosphere combined with a dark cloud hanging over the party feel, a danger. That’s the nature of “Sun”, it is rather light and bright on the surface but there are dark issues bubbling underneath.’
What are you happy about?
‘The social experiment and the (very) dry humour behind “Sun”. Mostly I’m happy about family life.’ What are you loving?
‘Having some time to dream.’
What are you hating?
‘Sitting on aeroplanes. Also the wordy, definition-y discussion around my work.’
What are you watching?
‘“30 Rock”, “Breaking Bad”.’
What are you listening to?
‘Corelli. Amazing music. There is a sense of beauty, of the endless and timeless, of perfection and sadness. It’s an emotional music that isn’t afraid to “feel” in public.’
What are you thinking about?
‘Quitting.’
What are you hoping for?
‘To become more emotional and less reasonable.’
What are you learning?
‘Chinese. So I'll be able to beg for my life when the new empire kicks in.’
