Hey bird brains (we mean that affectionately): The CasaBlanca Resort & Casino is looking for help in naming its colorful, feathery mascot. The anonymous parrot has been featured as the CasaBlanca logo and used in its marketing ever since the property opened in 1997. But somehow the parrot was never named. Well say bye-bye birdie to that.
A “Bird is the Word” contest has taken flight and resort marketers are asking for the public’s help in naming its peppy parrot. To enter your own witty suggestion head over to the CasaBlanca Facebook page to submit a name in the comment section of the contest post. But don’t delay: The contest only runs until noon on August 7.
The winner will be announced on Facebook on August 8 and have 24 hours to claim the prize.
The person submitting the winning name will receive a free two-night stay at CasaBlanca with a $100 room credit per night. You must be at least 21 years old to enter the contest.
“After going nameless for 27 years, we figured our feathered friend more than deserved a name for all the goodwill and happiness it’s brought to our guests,” Mesquite Gaming CEO Justin Moore said in a press release announcing the contest. “Who better to help us choose a creative name than the visitors who’ve been enjoying it for so long?”
The CasaBlanca Resort & Casino (and its sister property Virgin River) are located in the golf resort town of Mesquite, Nevada about 80 miles from Las Vegas near the Utah border. Combined, the two properties have 1,186 guest rooms. The resorts are owned by Mesquite Gaming.
