  • Wan Chai

This dumpling shop chain in Hong Kong is well-known for offering good quality dumplings that are cooked fresh, and a filling-to-dough ratio that is always on point. The Nom Nom Wan Chai branch is a popular outlet, as is its Causeway Bay and Mong Kok branches. They serve up all the classic dumplings including pork and vegetable varieties, but it's also worth trying their more creative versions such as sukiyaki beef dumpling, and spicy Chongqing-inspired wontons.

  • Shau Kei Wan

Northern Dumpling Yuan is another dumpling chain restaurant that has outlets all across Hong Kong, so you can hit up the shop whether you're in North Point, Wan Chai, Mong Kok, or even Shau Kei Wan. It's also a top spot for dumplings that are cooked fresh and served in a matter of minutes, all at a very reasonable price. The prawn and chive or classic pork cabbage dumplings are popular here.

Tucked away inside (Tsuen Cheong Centre), the restaurant is known for its sizeable dumplings. There are also plenty of options and flavours to chow on – from traditional flavours to the more quirky cheese, lamb and onion, and spicy pork fillings, which are all still worth a try.

  • Sheung Wan

A simple dumpling shop that delivers quality dumplings time and again is a good shop for us. Here, dumplings are served in a flavourful broth and offer various fillings to choose from. Adventurous diners can try flavours such as cheese or curry, but the classic pork and cabbage is just as good. All dumplings can be served with rice noodles and are perfect for a quick, simple meal. The nutritious fish maw with pork bone and Chinese yam broth is just as enjoyable as the dumplings too.

  • Jordan

Dumpling Pro is a favourite among locals in Jordan. It serves up hearty portions of dumplings for a reasonable price, so what's not to like? Try the cumin mutton dumplings or beef and leek dumplings which are meaty and jam-packed with flavour.
