Well, the eclipse has taken place, and social media is awash with deadpan jokers - including our own London colleagues - proclaiming the whole thing was a bit of a wash-out because it was too overcast to see anything. Inhabitants of Edinburgh took to Twitter to share images of the eclipse that captured the eerie majesty of the cosmic phenomenon, with the minimal cloud cover in this part of the country actually providing a helping hand in viewing the event without getting accidentally blinded.
