New Year's Eve dinner in Boston: best restaurants open on NYE

New Year’s Eve can be celebrated in any number of ways, but one thing we always recommend is getting a really nice dinner at one of your favorite restaurants. The high-energy, buzzing rooms fill with luxurious and creative menu additions—and, ideally, flowing champagne. It's always an epic night out on the town. Obviously, restaurants around the greater Boston area are gearing up to throw the best parties in town with great food, and we’ve highlighted a handful of our favorites.

Where to get NYE dinner in Boston

This sexy new North End restaurant mixes great Italian food with a speakeasy vibe, making it the perfect spot for a date-night NYE. For $150, diners will feast on a five-course meal in the main dining room featuring zeppole, homemade pastas, bistecca and more! Prepaid reservations are available.

Time Out Tip: Cocktail lovers rejoice! The Red Fox is creating a special five-course cocktail pairing for the evening.

Looking for something a little less late-night to ring in 2025? The French restaurant is offering a luxurious pre-fixe brunch menu for $175 per person, featuring dishes such as lobster cappuccino with butter-poached lobster, chestnut soup with Marcona almonds, and Hopkins Farm Southdown braised lamb with black truffle polenta. Open from 11:30am until 3:30pm, the restaurant will also be serving à la carte lunch service. Reservations are recommended.

Time Out Tip: Make a reservation for a spot in front of the restaurant's cozy fireplace.

The newest sushi spot in Chestnut Hill is taking the menu to the next level to celebrate the new year, with a multi-course jukusei omakase menu. That means the fish will be salted or soaked in vinegar and “aged” for several days, giving the fish a rich flavor profile. There are two options, an 11-course meal for $150 per guest, featuring Ora King salmon, snow crab, bluefin tuna and more. Want more? The restaurant is also offering a 16-course menu for $250, which adds a personal caviar tin, A5 Wagyu carpaccio and more. Reservations are available.

Time Out Tip: Up your experience with an additional Champagne and caviar tasting, for $125 per person.

For a unique dinner experience you won’t find anywhere else, head to the 52nd floor of the Prudential building for dinner at The Beacon. The restaurant at View Boston will be open on New Year’s Eve and will have extended hours until 1am. Dinner specials include a luxurious crab stuffed lobster tail and tuna tartare with ponzu. Reservations are recommended.

Time Out Tip: Last call is at 12:30am, so grab your final drink while taking in your final breathtaking view of the sparkling city. You could also check out View's cocktail bar, Stratus, which is dressed up as a winter oasis through January.

The Somerville hidden gem will be open for dinner on New Year’s Eve with a chef-curated tasting menu reflecting the bounty of the fall and winter season. Just outside Davis Square,  enjoy the meal in a tiny eatery that prioritizes slow food and warm ambiance. Accommodations can be made for vegetarians and some dietary restrictions. Open from 5–10pm with reservations available.

Time Out Tip: You can upgrade to wine pairing for $80, or, if you’re driving—or just don’t drink—a full mocktail pairing for $40.

What better way to ring in the New Year than with a four-course prix fixe in this sleek Cambridge spot? The meal starts with a wagyu carpaccio with black truffle-artichoke vinaigrette or grilled spanish octopus with sweet baby peppers, followed by a pasta course of chestnut and porcini agnolotti with brown butter and black truffles, or spaghetti with spicy squid and lemon. Mains include hearty dishes like broiled branzino or a 14-ounce NY strip. Finish with sweets including assorted biscotti and chocolate truffles. Reservations are available.

Time Out Tip: Chef Tony Susi was formerly at the award-winning Sage Restaurant and makes arguably the best pasta in Greater Boston. We’re telling you the pasta will be amazing.

The storied steakhouse has hosted events and occasions for Bostonians for over 30 years, and this New Year’s Eve is no exception. The restaurant serves its full a la carte menu starting at 5pm, and offers seatings until 10:30pm, so you can ring in 2025 with an icy martini in hand.

Time Out Tip: Book one of the high tops near the downstairs bar for a spot in the middle of the action, and the best view of all the festivities.

One of the best restaurants in Jamaica Plain is hosting a special New Year’s Eve dinner, with seatings until 10:15 that night. They’re promising a “super special” tasting menu, which we’re hoping features dishes like koji risotto and Spanish mackerel. 

Time Out Tip: The restaurant's house-made amaro is one of the best drinks in town.

Looking for a little boogie with your dinner? Kendall Square’s State Park is turning into a boogie wonderland and hosting a 1970’s prom night. The celebrations include live music featuring Soulelujah, a midnight Champagne toast (or the Champagne of beers) and a photo background for prom pics. And because you can’t have that much fun on an empty stomach, you’ll find a slider buffet so you can dine on snacky sandwiches and other small bites.

Time Out Tip: Kick the night off with the famous State Park cocktail: a bottle of Miller High Life topped off a shot of rye and amaro.

On New Year’s Eve, the South End stalwart will transform into a speakeasy with dinner, drinks, live music, and a show to ring in 2025. The restaurant’s a la carte menu will be available from 5–8pm and will feature a menu of Bohemian-inspired eats—the ricotta gnocchi is a must. At 9pm, the restaurant switches to a prix-fixe dinner, and the bar is open until 2am.

Time Out Tip: Finish the night with burlesque performances that start at 9:30pm and run until last call.

One of our picks for best bars in Boston, OAK always delivers old school elegance in the Back Bay. And elegance is what you’ll get on New Year’s Eve with a menu package (requiring full table participation) that includes a caviar course, tomahawk steak, lobster tail and a sweet finish with panna cotta. The regular dinner menu will also be served, starting at 1pm. 

Time Out Tip: Try the festive drink special, the Pamplemousse 75: Made with prosecco, Beefeater Gin, lemon juice and house-made grapefruit cordial, it's a fresh start to the new year.

This saucy steakhouse, with locations in the South End and Downtown Crossing, is hosting a three-course menu on New Year’s Eve. Expect to select from your favorite cut for a main—including ribeye, filet mignon and a fish option—for $149 per person. 

Time Out Tip: Champagne is included in the prix-fixe and will be flowing all night long.

No tickets are required for a festive evening with a special menu at the Banks on New Year’s Eve. Dine on a five-course prix fixe menu of dishes like torched Wagyu, scallop crudo, wild boar agnolotti, roasted lamb saddle and more, or enjoy an à la carte menu—all while enjoying live music. Dress in your cocktail finest, and be ready for fun surprises all night. Reservations are recommended.

Time Out Tip: The Banks is encouraging guests to get down to the live music, so wear your dancing shoes.

Capo delivers great Italian food and good times in equal measure. This New Year’s Eve, the restaurant's subterranean supper club is hosting a Burlesque Ball that promises to be full of glitz and glamour. Capo will be serving their supper club menu of generously portioned pastas and pizzas, along with some festive surprise specials. The celebrations start at 7pm. Time Out Tip: Capo has one of the most loaded cheese and charcuterie boards in town. It’s a must-order for a group.

Dreaming of celebrating the New Year at an over-the-top French soirée? Rochambeau has the next best thing in Boston, with an elegant affair featuring live jazz, card games and a Champagne toast at midnight. Start the party with a multi-course prix-fixe menu inspired by French culinary traditions, for an extra fee. The Patricia Scott Band and Astha Zyla are performing.
