Head to the railway arches at the back entrance to Snow Hill station and you'll find this charming neighbourhood coffee shop. Opened in 2011, Brewsmiths runs counter to many indie outfits, with traditional British vibes replacing hipster baristas, stripped decor and antipodean tendencies.
All praise to owner Andy who took over from Dave in 2014 and kept consistent to the café's values. Its popularity is testament to its friendly service, amazing value and fabulous breakfast menu.
At weekends, the place is packed. The legendary 4B (bacon butty and filter/tea combo) is just £3.40, the best value deal in town. There are also cakes, toasties, sandwiches and pancakes and four people can eat and drink comfortably for under £25.
Espresso-based drinks (beans from Limini Coffee) are a tad darker roast than many you’ll find in the city. For hefty caffeine dosage, another big draw is the £3 bottomless filter. Brewsmiths is also mad about tea – be sure to try the smoky Russian Caravan.
