Fashion after the social and political upheaval of the French Revolution was a far different story from the fanciful frocks and extravagant clothing of the Ancient Regime. The want for classically inspired dress travelled from France into Britain in the years that followed, and this exhibition depicts the simpler tastes of the time. A selection of 18th and early 19th-century British miniatures from Richard Cosway, John Smart and George Engleheart chart the elegant styles of the day, and sit alongside prints from the Barber Institute's own collection.
