Phil Hession is a Dutch artist who works across performance and video, with a strong interest in the traditions of storytelling through social and cultural exchanges. As part of his five-week residency, Hession will be cycling thorough Digbeth with his DIY record-cutting lathe by bicycle trailer. His aim is to create field recordings of the area, using the lathe to 'cut' audio on to DVDs so they can play back on a record player. He will also record his own recitals of traditional Irish songs and work with various groups to produce new soundscapes. An artist talk (Feb 26) and artist performance (Apr 3) take place alongside the exhibition.
