Just across the street from Friedrichstrasse station, this new corner building by the Spree is a huge link in the Spanish Sol Meliá chain. All 364 rooms are similarly and tastefully appointed, many with fine views of the river and Reichstag beyond, but the rich wood units and headboards seem a little incongruous. The rooftop restaurant offers reasonably priced theatre and business lunch menus, while the tapas bar off the lobby provides lighter dishes. It's a good stop-over for the harried business traveller, but for folk in search of atmosphere, there's better fare for the money to be found elsewhere.
