Sometimes the 4/4 techno beat can seem inescapable in Berlin, but for Mitte-bound beat fans, this much-loved, dingy dive bar is the alternative. Weekends get raucous with DJs playing a solid mix of punk and new wave staples and expect to see the occasional touring band-member getting behind the decks for a gig after-party. A relic from a previous generation of American expats (in Berlin’s accelerated timescale this means the early noughties), mixed groups of Anglophones and locals popkids (London indie legend Joe Dilworth's a regular) still come here to booze into the small hours on a nightly basis.
