2020 left a bitter taste in our mouth, but we managed to drink that bitterness away. Here are ten newly opened—or newly relocated—bars that helped us seek joy and solace in booze in what was a truly difficult year.

Anyone who loves gin may have been a regular at this bar back when it was located in Thonglor. Now, Just a Drink (Maybe) has moved to a new site near BTS Chong Nonsi, and it comes with brand-new offerings.

Just a Drink (Maybe), which retains its friendly and cozy vibes, has come up with new gin-based cocktails and is now open in the afternoon as a cafe. The menu will be changed every two months so gin lovers will have something new to try. And speaking of trying, allow us to introduce you to Corn, Maybe Corn Flakes (B390). We think you’ll be great friends.

Well-known bartender Francesco Moretti’s new speakeasy on Pan Road is an instant hit, thanks to its commitment to giving drinkers a mystery-enhanced tipple experience.

Have a go at unique cocktails like the pandan-infused It Was Called Forbidden Fruit (B320) or Sinnerman’s coffee-tinged negroni (B360). You can also have a drink tailor-made to your preferred taste or fragrance. Pretty amazing, don’t you think?

This hidden bar serves a wide range of creative cocktails that mix in Thai medicinal herbs, as inspired by old-school brand Moh Mee.

The watering hole is nestled in the basement of a 100-year-old European house in Soi Kasem San 3, which is also a venue for dining events and exhibitions.

  • Ekamai

This one won our heart for its playful, kinky theme inspired by the 50 Shades of Grey franchise. Situated above opulent French eatery Restaurant Stage, Playroom encourages guests to explore their naughty side.

On hand to give some liquid courage are ten lip-smacking signature cocktails (priced at approximately B400 each) by mixologist Supawit “Palm” Muttarattana, who used to work behind the bar at Vesper.

If you’re into both art and drinking, PIN31 is ideal for you. Stylized as a bar in an art gallery, this brand-new drinkery projects images of world-renowned landmarks on stark white walls while live music plays in the background.

Drinks-wise, PIN31 has unconventional cocktails with even more unconventional ingredients like grilled squid. It, surprisingly, works!

The drinks are simple, but are perfect for nursing while listening to a wide range of music like disco, rock, afro jazz and electronica.
