Time Out says

What is it? A choose-your-own pace crawl to some of D.C.'s best independent bookstores to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day. Head to one of the six participating bookstores to pick up a map (or print one yourself) and work your way through the list to collect stamps. If you visit six or more stores, you'll be able to collect a prize.

Why go? Could there be a more fun way to shop for your summer beach reads? If your idea of a fun weekend outing is browsing a bookstore, this is the event for you.

Time Out tip: This event happens to span neighborhoods, so it's a great way to force yourself out of the neighborhood and into a new one. The route also includes some great nearby eateries that would be worth visiting to fuel your crawl. For example, Lost City Books in Adams Morgan has a partnership with next door Andy's Pizza; present your receipt for a free slice.
