Nicknamed “the gay Cheers,” the Duplex Diner aims to be an inclusive place where everybody knows your name. Since 1998, it has been a neighborhood gathering spot for locals and members of the LGBT community. Current owners Mark Hunker and Jeff McCracken were regulars of the diner since it opened before they took over in 2014. The staff will make you feel at home as they sling burgers, sandwiches, bar bites and entrees. Meatloaf, mac and cheese, grilled chicken tenders and pigs in a blanket with tots are some of the fan favorites. There are also specials that change nightly, like half-price items that start with the letter M on Mondays and bottomless rosé on Saturdays and Sundays. From the cocktail menu, try one of the variations on the lemon squeeze, or the LGB-Tea.
