Taking a tour of the White House is a bucket-list item for anyone visiting Washington, but getting to see the Oval Office is not an easy feat. For those wondering what secrets lie behind those famous doors, the White House Historical Association is about to make dreams a reality with the opening of The People’s House: A White House Experience next month.

In partnership with Panasonic Corporation of North America, the Association is creating an experience that’s as close as you can get to the real thing. You’ll get to tour a massive model of the White House, virtually stroll through the State Floor in a 360° immersive projection and even step into a full-scale replica of the Oval Office.

This $30 million project is just a block from the actual White House, located at Pennsylvania Avenue and 17th Street NW. By using Panasonic’s cutting-edge tech, you’ll walk away feeling like you’ve been there. Here’s what to expect:

Wander through a giant cutaway model of the White House where rooms transform into the Green Room, Blue Room or Red Room. A full-size Oval Office replica will be decked out just like the sitting president’s. A Rose Garden recreation will let you virtually stroll among the flowers—and pretend you’re about to give a press briefing.

Other galleries will let you experience the Cabinet Room, the State Dining Room and even the movie theater where presidents catch the latest flicks. Another exhibit will give a nod to the unsung heroes—ushers, chefs, florists and the whole behind-the-scenes crew—who keep the White House ticking like clockwork.

The People’s House: A White House Experience is slated to open in September, so keep an eye on the website for the latest updates.
