Tedeschi Trucks Band

Tedeschi Trucks Band is a particularly good match for Wolf Trap's picnic-on-the-lawn routine. The 12-piece group, led by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, works across soul, blues, roots and rock, with songs like "Midnight in Harlem" and "Made Up Mind" giving the band plenty of room for the musicians to shine. Lukas Nelson opens with songs from his album American Romance, making the August 28 lineup a strong one for anyone who likes roots music with some range. Before the show, NPR's Felix Contreras hosts a 6pm discussion on the Farmhouse Lawn, a nice bonus for those who want more context before settling in. Gates open at 5:30pm, leaving plenty of time to arrive early, grab a drink or spread out a picnic before the music starts.
