A modest collection nestled amid regal townhouses, the Textile Museum has two permanent exhibitions: the Textile Learning Center describes the history and procedures of textile production, while the Collections Gallery rotates selections of historic rugs and textiles. Temporary exhibitions also feature. In 2013, Out of Southeast Asia: Art that Sustains revealed how textiles in the region originally served as markers of ethnicity, and how their various patterns have been developed and interpreted by contemporary artists.
