Vienna's best Airbnbs

1. The loft with a balcony in Währing

Perched beneath the roof of a grand 19th-century villa, this Airbnb offers a stylish and serene escape in one of Vienna’s most elegant districts. Though the climb to the third floor (there’s no elevator here) may test your legs, the reward is a sweeping rooftop view of the city that’s well worth it. The highlight is the balcony, which is perfect for a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of Grüner Veltliner. This studio comes with a compact but well-equipped kitchen and a convertible sofa, which makes it suitable for small group and family stays.

Price: From €143 per night.

Beds: One room. Sleeps four guests.

Location: Währing.

2. The retro apartment in Alliiertenviertel

It's always a fun idea to stay somewhere a little out of the ordinary to make your visit that bit more unique. This apartment is the backdrop for those who want to keep it playful and cosy. Everything from the checkered rug to the blue ceiling is effortlessly cool. Not to mention, the history on your doorstep - you've got views of the Flakturms from the living room. Pretty cool. You're also in the perfect location for a bit of tranquillity while being an easy 10-minute tram ride away from the centre.

Price: From €113 per night.

Beds: One bedroom. Sleeps two guests.

Location: Alliiertenviertel, Brigittenau.

3. The historic apartment near the Danube

Who doesn't love a modern twist on a classic? If you ask us, this apartment is the perfect blend of historic charm and contemporary chic: it's got the quintessential high ceilings, large windows, and walls lined with antique paintings in gold frames, accompanied by calming mint green and pistachio accents - such a nice change from your stereotypical beige colour scheme.

Price: From €299 per night.

Beds: One bedroom. Sleeps four guests.

Location: Brigittenau.

4. The musician suite in Meidling

Puccini is pretty much the only operatic composer not to have a connection with Vienna, but if he were to pitch up in the city in the 2020s, then he might well fancy staying here. This flamboyantly decorated apartment in the 12th district's calling card is surely the gold feature wall in the living space. But it’s also worth considering for its great location between the Old Town, Schönbrunn Palace and Wiener Naschmarket. Oh, and the authentically 1970s orange bathroom is a treat too.

Price: From €105 per night.

Beds: One bedroom. Sleeps four guests.

Location: Meidling.

5. The modern studio in the edgy Margareten

This homely flat is located a little bit further from the centre than some others. But don’t let that put you off - excellent transport links mean you’ll be in central Vienna in less than 15 minutes. The owners of this place have taken some risks with the decor, and it’s paid off. Pops of lime green offset a neutral palette of cream and black, and a set of skeletal black chairs creates a pleasingly ghostly ambience.

Price: From €84 per night.

Beds: One bedroom. Sleeps three guests.

Location: Margareten.

6. The pretty in pink apartment in Leopoldstadt

This delightfully pink home is located just across the river from the Innerestadt in Volkertviertel. With one double bedroom, it’s the ideal place to spend a romantic long weekend in the city. The highlight is surely that millennial pink living room where stylish post-war modernism is combined with playful femininity. Pour yourself a long drink, grab a book and while away the early evening hours on the sofa before heading out for dinner.

Price: From €150 per night.

Beds: One bedroom. Sleeps two guests.

Location: Leopoldstadt.

7. The eco-chic Austrian home in KaisermĂĽhlen

Just one look at the photos and it shouldn’t surprise you to know that this eco-apartment by the Danube is owned and designed by a local artist. It accommodates four people and – unlike most places you could stay in the city – gives you access to a gorgeous garden. Inside, you’ll appreciate the tiny flourishes of colour, texture and pattern. Outside, you’ll discover your own green oasis for enjoying a springtime breakfast or an evening cocktail.

Price: From €99 per night.

Beds: One bedroom. Sleeps three guests.

Location: Kaisermühlen.

8. The Serail homestead in Meidling

This snug apartment is in Vienna’s 12th district, which makes it sound like it’s in the middle of nowhere. In actual fact, it’s nicely sandwiched between the Old Town and Empress Sisi’s old haunt, the Schönbrunn Palace. This one made the cut because of that excellent use of turquoise (hard colour to get right) and that rather strange gold palm tree table accessory. We are always here for an unusual gold palm tree table accessory.

Price: From €129 per night.

Beds: One bedroom. Sleeps three guests.

Location: Meidling.

9. The chic loft with a garden in Leopoldstadt

Rest your head in this former factory-gone-stylish architect loft situated in the 2nd district – home of the famous Riesenrad Ferris wheel – with a charming private garden. Though compact, the loft is cleverly designed to make the space feel calming and open, with a kitchen/dining space, study, anteroom and bathroom. Our favourite part is the white high-panelled ceilings that really add an artistic touch. Around the corner, you'll find Augarten Park, U2 and Praterstern for easy access to the rest of the city.

Price: From €153 per night.

Beds: One bedroom. Sleeps two guests.

Location: Leopoldstadt.

10. The elegant one-bed in Biedermeier

Up on the first floor of a charming mid-17th-century, a stay at this chic, modern apartment is yours for the taking. A cool perk of the floor plan is that the bedroom faces the courtyard, offering you a nice view of the surrounding architecture, particularly charming in summer. Style-wise, the apartment is a mix of contemporary design and vintage upholstery, making it timeless and chic. When you want to explore you have the Historic Centre and Mariahilferstrasse on your doorstep. 10/10 for walkability and vibes.

Price: From €219 per night.

Beds: One bedroom. Sleeps two guests.

Location: Biedermeier.
