Air travel these days has been is plagued by delays and cancellations due to a number of factors, from lack of airline staffing to extreme weather conditions to air traffic control staffing issues. Not much can make up for the hassle of a delayed or canceled flight, but JetBlue aims to make it easier on its passengers by partnering with Uber for Business to offer rideshare vouchers for certain qualifying disruptions, reports Travel + Leisure.

The program is now available in the U.S., with the goal of expanding internationally in the coming months. Customers who are delayed by at least three hours or face a canceled flight due to something that was within JetBlue’s control will receive an Uber voucher via email. The vouchers will be valid for travel from the airport to or from a hotel in the area of the airport.

Policies and procedures dealing with flight disruptions are generally up to each individual airline, but airlines are required to issue refunds if a flight is canceled. The Department of Transportation put together a dashboard detailing each airline’s policies when it comes to delays and cancellations.

JetBlue’s new policy is certainly a step in the right direction, and hopefully, other airlines follow suit.
