Inspiration House in Oberlin, Ohio is promoted as a relaxing, creative retreat… if you’re inspired by the paranormal, that is. The four-bedroom, six Airbnb features comfortable rooms, a luxurious library, a beautiful clawfoot tub, a stocked kitchen and the spirits of a few former residents who died in the house. It's one of the most haunted Airbnbs in the U.S.
The listing is actually quite popular, as visitors seeking a spirit-nourishing retreat come away inspired by the supernatural activity. Built in the 1870s, the home was purchased by Michelle Belanger, a paranormal researcher featured on shows including Paranormal State and Portals to Hell, and author of more than 35 works of fiction and non-fiction. She has confirmed that the home is occupied by ghosts—mostly former residents—and that they are friendly.
The space is designed to spark creativity and spiritual uplift, as guests can explore old rooms, play board games in the parlors, and utilize spirit communication prompts and Psychic Aptitude Cards designed by Michelle. Many guests report seeing a ghost dog, hearing children’s music and occasional screams. The creepiest part of the house, however, is the display room, which is described as part museum, part paranormal training ground. Michelle put together the room to help people get familiar with the tools, theories, and approaches of paranormal investigation.
If you’re looking for some scares live and in person, or if you’re just looking for an otherworldly getaway, Inspiration House bookings start at $257 per night.
