True crime lovers, unite! Home security company Vio Security is looking to hire a lucky someone to listen to 31 hours of top true crime podcasts. You'll get to select episodes from any of the following nine programs: Crime Junkie, Dateline, I Survived, Motive for Murder, My Favorite Murder, Real Narcos, Serial, Someone Knows Something, Son of a Hitman and The Thing About Pam.
"Upstanding detective or criminal mastermind, true crime lover or adept podcaster, scaredy-cat or 'final girl'— if you have a taste for the macabre, Vio Security is looking for a who that knows whodunit," reads the official job posting. "This Halloween, we're shelling out $1,666 for one crafty crime buff to listen to 31 hours of the top true crime podcasts. Think you could handle it?"
As part of the job, you'll have to answer a series of questions based on your listening experience. All this for the company to "understand how true crime podcasts affect people—specifically if they make people feel more unsafe the more they listen."
To apply, you must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. You can find the application right here, where you'll be asked to state your case in 200 characters while also discussing how you usually celebrate the Halloween season, how often you listen to podcasts and which true crime story "keeps you up at night." You've got until October 19 at 2pm EST to apply for the job and, if chosen, you'll have to listen to hours upon hours of podcast content by October 31.
For all of your hard work, you'll earn $1,666 in cash and a "true crime kit" that includes a Fitbit (so you can record your heart rate while listening!), a door blocking mechanism, access to a personal safety app, a flashlight, a whistle and wireless earbuds. This is, indeed, the most Halloween-appropriate job out there at the moment.
