Although a premiere date has yet to be announced, the latest trailer for the reboot of '90s favorite Saved by the Bell is upon us—and it looks pretty good.
Set to air on Peacock, NBC's new streaming service, the revival takes fans back to Bayside High, albeit presenting us with a new roster of students, including Mitchell Hoog's Mac, Zack Morris' son. The premise of the show sees the elder Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar reprises his role), now the governor of California, closing a bunch of low-income high schools across the state, which pushes students to enroll in Bayside High instead. The move forces the high school's predominantly white, upper-class pupils to reckon with diversity and come face-to-face with kids from different backgrounds than their own.
Other '90s staples make comebacks, as seen in the trailer. Mario Lopez plays AC Slater (now a gym teacher) once more and Elizabeth Berkley returns as now-guidance counselor Jessie Spano, in the preview seen involved in yet another storyline involving caffeine pills (will we ever forget that, well, unforgettable scene?).
But what draws the most "ahhs" of recognition in the teaser is a cameo by The Max, the local campus eatery that was constantly featured in the original run of the program.
In Jessie's own words: we're so excited! We're so excited!
