To try and ease the spread of the coronavirus, Walt Disney World will close until the end of March starting this Sunday night, March 15.
The 30 or so hotels that are part of the resort and the Disney Springs shopping and dining areas will remain operational "until further notice," the company said in an official statement.
The news comes at the heels of yesterday's announcement concerning the closure of Disneyland, in California, starting Saturday, March 14.
The Florida resort includes six "separately ticketed parks with combined annual attendance of 93 million," reports the New York Times.
The company also announced that customers will be able to obtain refunds for hotel bookings during the closure and employees will continue to be paid throughout this period.
This isn't the first time the park shutters since first opening its gates back in 1965: hurricanes—including Floyd (1999), Frances (2004) and Matthew (2016)—forced closures throughout its lifespan.
