Good news for those of you looking to get out of town: although still monitoring demand, United Airlines will officially add about 25,000 more flights to its schedule this August as compared to July, resuming a total of 50 routes domestically.
The news comes at the heels of the company's decision not to limit capacity on flights despite previously announced measures. There's more: the carrier will resume flying in and out of China (it stopped doing so for a month) and Tahiti, which has announced that it will accept international tourists starting later this month.
"We will be extremely flexible from moving our capacity from places we are seeing demand go down [...] and place our flights in states where we see an uptick in demand," said United Airlines' vice president of domestic network planning Ankit Gupta on an official call with reporters earlier today. "For the Fourth of July holiday we have seen quite a bit of demand."
Beware, though: the airline will ask you to disclose your health status when checking in and will place passengers that refuse to wear face masks on no-fly lists. We might not be able to fly to Europe any time soon, but there are plenty of other spots within the United States that are worthy of our attention. See you there?
